European Values Study (EVS)

The European Values Study is a large-scale, cross-national, and longitudinal research survey examining basic human values, and is the oldest sociological research program on values. To date the EVS has conducted four surveys (1981, 1990, 1999/2000, 2008), and the two latest rounds cover almost all European countries.

The surveys centre on issues such as work and leisure, ethics, religion, family and marriage, sexuality, politics, democracy and socio-economic life.

European Union Democracy Observatory (EUDO)

The European Union Democracy Observatory is an independent academic organisation whose goal is to produce a permanent and periodic assessment of democratic practices within the EU. At the same time it seeks to develop practical suggestions for improving the quality of democracy.

EUDO’s aim also is to serve as a forum to exchange ideas and best practices, and to be a resource for policy makers, academics and citizens throughout Europe.
