Comparative workpackage reports
The EUROSPHERE Consortium has produced comparative studies of different features of European public spheres.
In WP4 the project assesses comparatively the impact of individual citizens’ patterns of involvement, their belongings, and their co-otherness on their attitudes to diversity, the EU polity (EP), and the formation of a European Public Sphere (EPS). Existing survey data (ESS, EVS, ISSP, Eurobarometer) are contrasted with EUROSPHERE data. In this research component, the project assesses comparatively citizens’ patterns of involvement and their cognitive/actual ability to act as co-others and how these are related to attitudes to the idea of Europe.

In WP5 the attitudes towards diversity, the European Public Sphere, and the European Polity among European elites and central organizations that are participants in European public debates (political parties, social movements, think tanks, and print and broadcast media) are analyzed. Each report assesses contributions of these social and political actors to the articulation of the European public spheres.
